The rise of mobile banking and direct channels in an era of cost control

Event Summary

Across the world, mobile banking (m-banking) is shaking up the consumer financial services industry, offering strong customer reach and interactivity coupled with significantly lower distribution and sales costs.

There were over 150 m-banking roll-outs in 2008, with many more to come in 2009 and beyond, according to research by Retail Banker International. The widespread use of open browser-based mobile platforms as opposed to closed proprietary ones means that the implementation process is significantly easier, and many banks are now seeing real earnings benefits from their m-banking channels.

The 2009 Retail Banking Forum is currently being rescheduled for later in the year.Contact us if you'd like more information. In the meantime, VRL provides a wealth of other information about mobile banking and the retail banking sector.
